Demand Progress, an online activist organization comprising nearly two million affiliated activists, released the following response to President Obama's nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court, attributable to Campaign Director Kurt Walters:
“It's disappointing that President Obama missed the opportunity to solidify his legacy by appointing a true progressive to the Supreme Court. As Demand Progress and other organizations determine whether we can support this nomination, one thing is clear: Senate Republicans must do their jobs under the Constitution and move without delay to give Merrick Garland a fair hearing.
"There is no excuse for Republicans' radical strategy of blocking any nominee to the Supreme Court, regardless of their qualifications. The public outrage at Republicans' unprecedented obstructionism will only increase if Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley does not quickly schedule a hearing."
